Redwood City, Calif. - Trion World Network, a developer and publisher of video games and original entertainment, announced on Monday that it has landed a new $30 million financing round, led by Rustic Canyon Partners.

Media firms Time Warner, GE/NBC Universal's Peacock Equity Fund, and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments also participated, along with existing investors DCM and Trinity Ventures.

Redwood City, Calif.-based Trion says its broadband games and entertainment platform will let gamers access interactive content from a wide array of devices.

The company is led by Dr. Lars Buttler, former vice president of global online at Electronic Arts, and Jon Van Caneghem, founder of New World Computing and creator of games including "Might and Magic" and "Heroes."

Trion will use the new funds, and relationships with traditional media firms, to develop and publish new games and entertainment franchises.
