Mobile Payments Firm Obopay Lands $29 Million

Redwood City, Calif. - Obopay, a provider of mobile payments services, said on Thursday that it has raised $29 million in its third round of funding, led by Richmond Global Cellular.

All of the company's previous investors, including Qualcomm and Redpoint Ventures, participated, as well as new investors AllianceBernstein, Citi and Societe Generale.

Carol Realini, the CEO of Obopay, said that the round "enables us to enhance our branding and marketing efforts as we launch additional partnerships and continue to augment our service offerings."

The Redwood City, Calif.-based company's year-old service allows consumers to instantly receive, send and spend money using their mobile handsets.
