San Francisco - Imeem, a social network focused on music and other media, announced on Thursday that major label Warner Music Group has dismissed its copyright infringement claims against the company, and licensed its catalog of songs and music videos available for on-demand streaming in North America on the free, ad-supported service.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Warner Music sued San Francisco-based imeem, which counts 16 million users, in May, alleging the company invited users "to flock to its website to copy, adapt, distribute and perform unlicensed sound recordings and music videos."

Alex Zubillaga, Warner Music's executive vice president of digital strategy and business development, said the deal "opens the door for imeem and WMG to develop new strategies and products that will help introduce a more vibrant media marketplace to the social networking environment."
