Sony to Discontinue Cheaper PS3 in U.S. Once Current Stock Runs Out

London - The president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has said that the company will no longer offer the newly-discounted 60GB PlayStation 3 in the U.S. once current stock runs out, which is expected by the end of July, GamesIndustry.biz reported.

Sony this week announced a $100 price cut for the 60GB PlayStation 3, while simultaneously introducing a new $599, 80GB model that will ship in August.

"All they're doing is taking their stock in trade that they've got at the moment of the 60GB model, marking the price down and it will all be gone by the end of July," SCEE president David Reeves told GamesIndustry.biz, also confirming that the 60GB model will then no longer be available in America.
