Casual Games Publisher PopCap Acquires SpinTop Games

Seattle - PopCap Games, a developer and publisher of casual games, announced on Monday that it has acquired SpinTop Games, a consumer game portal and developer of casual games.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2004, Vancouver, Canada-based SpinTop offers more than 250 downloadable casual game titles, including "Mystery Solitaire" and "Mahjong Escape."

The company will become an independent subsidiary of PopCap, led by co-founders Duncan Magee and Craig Hamilton.

Seattle-based PopCap said its games, which include "Bejeweled," have been downloaded more than 200 million times.
