VC Firm Spark Capital Closes Second Fund With $360 Million

Boston - Venture capital firm Spark Capital announced on Tuesday the closing of its second fund -- called Spark II -- that will have $360 million in investment capital.

The firm said the new fund will invest in "opportunities arising from the conflux of the media, entertainment and technology industries."

Spark Capital now has $622 million under management.

"Since our founding two years ago, we've seen the prophecy of the conflux materialize," said Todd Dagres, general partner at Spark Capital.

"With the new fund, we'll expand our efforts to capitalize on the massive wave of convergence and the worldwide explosion of online applications, media and content."

The firm's portfolio companies include 4th Media, Bug Labs, KickApps, Me.dium, Menara, Next New Networks, SendMe, thePlatform, Twistbox Entertainment, Veoh and Xoova.
