Toronto - JumpTV, a provider of live TV broadcasts over the Internet, announced that it will acquire the broadband network business unit of XOS Technologies, which focuses on U.S. college sports, for $60.25 million.

Founded in 1999, Florida-based XOS has exclusive relationships with over 150 U.S. colleges, and maintains official websites in addition to streaming live NCAA sporting events such as football, basketball and baseball.

Toronto-based JumpTV operates a network of over 290 TV channels from over 75 countries, targeted mainly at expatriates seeking broadcast programming from their native countries.

"The acquisition stays true to JumpTV's focus on IPTV for displaced communities interested in unique, hard-to-find and high-affinity content -- whether for ethnic immigrants or sports fans living far away from local television markets," said JumpTV chairman and CEO G. Scott Paterson.
