Knoxville, Tenn. - Scripps Networks, whose TV holdings include Food Network, HGTV and DIY Network, announced on Thursday that it has acquired Recipezaar, a community site that features more than 230,000 user-generated recipes.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1999, Vashon, Wash.-based Recipezaar now receives 2.3 million unique visitors per month to its site, which features solely user-generated recipes that community members can rate.

"By focusing even more on the consumer and the online user experience -- much in the way Recipezaar does -- we believe we can broaden our reach and deepen our relationship with the consumer in these categories as well as other aspects of lifestyle," said John Lansing, president of Scripps Networks.
