Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft's entertainment and devices division posted a loss of $1.9 billion for its fiscal year, due in large part to the $1 billion the company set aside to deal with repairs and extension of warranties on its Xbox 360 game consoles.
The figure represents a 47% increase in the unit's loss from last year; revenues for the year were up 28% to $6.08 billion.
During its fourth quarter, the entertainment and devices division shipped 700,000 Xbox 360 consoles, down from 1.8 million a year prior; fourth quarter revenues fell 10%, to $1.16 billion.
