New York - Takkle, the provider of an online social network for high school sports, said on Monday that it has secured an undisclosed sum of additional financing, led by Sports Illustrated and the New York City Investment Fund.

Existing investors WMG Investments, Greycroft Partners, IJ Smith Enterprises, and Allen & Co. managing director Jack Schneider also participated.

New York-based Takkle lets high school teams and athletes create team and player profiles, upload videos and photos, track statistics, and provide information for recruiters.

The company now powers Sports Illustrated's online nomination engine for its long-running "Faces in the Crowd" feature.

Takkle will use the funds for further product development.
