Hitachi to Release $2,000 Blu-ray Recorder in Japan This Year

Tokyo - Japanese consumer electronics firm Hitachi has announced plans to release the first Blu-ray camcorder, Wired News reported. Slated to ship only in Japan later this year, the $2,000 device will capture images in 1080p and support 8-centimeter Blu-ray discs, in addition to DVD-RAM, DVD-R and DVD-RW.
