Washington - The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has sent a new wave of 408 "pre-litigation settlement letters" to 23 U.S. universities, where users of campus networks are suspected of copyright infringement of music via file-sharing services. Since launching the program in February, the RIAA has sent a total of over 2,400 pre-litigation letters, which are complementary to its campaign of lawsuits targeting alleged file-swappers. Schools on the receiving end of the new letters include SUNY Morrisville (34 letters), Georgia Institute of Technology (31), Penn State (31) and the University of Kansas (14).
