San Francisco - Respectance, an online social community focused on sharing memories of lost loved-ones, said on Tuesday that it has landed $1.5 million in its first round of funding.

Solid Ventures and Big Bang Ventures co-led the round, will be used to continue development and expand the site's international presence.

The company also said that it has formally launched its site, which allows family and friends to share memories of lost loved ones by creating multimedia tributes.

San Francisco-based Respectance, which offers features such as photo, music and video uploading, said that its site is more appropriate for personalized tributes than all-purpose social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook.
