Target to Exclusively Stock Blu-ray Disc Players

Los Angeles - Retail giant Target has announced that it will stock Sony's Blu-ray Disc players and Blu-ray movie and video titles during the upcoming holiday season. Target will begin selling the $499 Sony BDP-S300 player in October, and in a blow to Sony's rival, will not stock players based on Toshiba's HD DVD format in its stores. The retailer will, however, stock both Blu-ray and HD DVD titles. "We are not proclaiming one format vs. the other as the preferred consumer technology, and software will continue to be available to our guests in both the Blu-ray and HD-DVD format," Target spokeswoman Brie Heath told the Associated Press.
