Sunnyvale, Calif. - Harmonic, a provider of broadcast and on-demand video delivery technology, announced that it will acquire Rhozet, which develops universal transcoding technology for the creation of multi-format video for Internet, mobile and broadcast applications, for $15.5 million.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Rhozet's transcoding technologies are used by customers including Amazon.com, MSN and Yahoo.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Harmonic said the addition of Rhozet's technology will enable its broadcast, cable, satellite and telco customers to create and deliver Internet and video programming.
