Belo Corp. announced today that its Board of Directors has elected Douglas G. Carlston a director of the Company effective July 26, 2007.  Carlston, 60, has served as chairman of the board of Public Radio International, a leading source for public radio programming, since June 2003, having been a member of that board since March 1997. He also serves as chief executive officer of Tawala Systems, an Internet technology company he co-founded in 2005.

Yahoo on Friday named Maggie Wilderotter to its board of directors. Wilderotter currently is the chairman and CEO of Citizens Communications, the second-largest local exchange telephone company in the country. She previously served as senior vice president of the worldwide public sector division at Microsoft.

The Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal said that publisher Vintage Foster is stepping down at the end of August to take a position outside of the industry. Foster has served as the paper's publisher for more than three years, and previously served in the same capacity with the East Bay Business Times. No successor has been named.
