Vancouver, Canada - NowPublic, a Vancouver, Canada-based citizen journalism site, has raised $10.6 million in its first round of financing, led by Rho Ventures and Rho Canada, the Associated Press reported on Monday.

Existing investors Brightspark and GrowthWorks Capital also participated.

Since its launch in 2005, NowPublic says that over 100,000 people from more than 140 countries have uploaded stories, photos and videos to the site.

The company also partnered with the Associated Press, which distributes some of its content to news organizations.
