Gemstar-TV Guide Leads $2.8 Million Round for TV Fan Site BuddyTV

Seattle - BuddyTV, a site that provides original and user-generated content related to television shows, has raised $2.8 million in its first round of financing, led by Gemstar-TV Guide International, PEHub.com reported, citing a regulatory filing.

Angel investors Geoff Entress and John Cunningham also participated, the Seattle P-I reported.

Seattle-based BuddyTV was co-founded by Wharton School alums Andy Liu and David Niu.

In addition to original content, the site lets users distribute their own TVj "Television Jockey" broadcasts containing live audio, video, text and polls around their favorite content.
