Report: Sony to Add Digital TV Tuner, DVR to PlayStation 3Authored by Mark Hefflinger on August 1, 2007 - 2:42pm.
Los Angeles - Sony plans to introduce a digital TV tuner with digital video recorder capabilities to its PlayStation 3 console in early 2008, according to a comment made by Computer Entertainment New Zealand sales and marketing manager Warwick Light to the local website The Press. "We're also hoping next year -- about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service -- to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder," Light told The Press. While Sony has refused to comment on the matter to the press, some expect the company to announce the upcoming feature at the Leipzig Games Convention later this month.
