Round Rock, Texas - Dell announced that it will acquire ZING Systems, a developer of Wi-Fi access technology for portable digital audio and entertainment devices.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Mountain View, Calif.-based ZING's technology allows devices like the Sandisk Sansa MP3 player and Sirius Stiletto satellite radio receiver to receive wireless music and data downloads.

Dell said the deal reflects its renewed interest in its consumer business, and plans to use ZING and its capabilities to "continue improving the entertainment experiences it provides its customers."
