Spock Launches Public Beta Version of Search SiteAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on August 10, 2007 - 2:36pm.
Redwood City, Calif. - Spock, a company developing a search application that organizes information about people, said that it has launched a public beta version of its site. The year-old company had launched a private beta version of the site in April. Unlike Google and Yahoo, which index Web pages, Spock said that it organizes information around a specific individual. The site creates a snapshot of a person's presence from public sources on the Web, including a brief biographical summary, pictures and other related content. Registered users also will be able to add content to bolster their own profiles, as well as those of others.
