Cupertino, Calif. - Apple on Tuesday announced the addition of Beatle John Lennon's solo catalog on label EMI Music to the iTunes Store.

"John would have loved the fact that his music will now be available in a format suited to a new generation of listeners," said Yoko Ono.

The Lennon tracks will be offered both in standard, DRM-equipped format for 99 cents each, and in DRM-free format for $1.29 each.

For the next 30 days, those purchasing select Lennon albums and collections from iTunes will also receive "exclusive video content."

The Beatles have long been iTunes holdouts, although the settlement in February of a long-running trademark dispute between Apple Computer and the band's record label signaled that their lucrative catalog may soon be offered digitally.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney also recently approved his solo works for sale on iTunes.
