San Jose, Calif. - Trilogy Studios, a video game and virtual world developer, announced on Tuesday that it has received an undisclosed investment from Chichen Itza Ventures.

Founded in 2005, Santa Monica, Calif.-based Trilogy Studios develops games for consoles, in addition to virtual world software.

The company created an online virtual world for MTV Networks' "Pimp My Ride" program, on which it collaborated with Makena Technologies, operator of the virtual world There.com -- another Chichen Itza portfolio company.

"This investment strengthens the partnership between Trilogy and There.com and it also marries Trilogy's gaming expertise with There.com's leadership in social virtual worlds," said There.com CEO Michael Wilson.

"We see a wealth of opportunity in new financial and distribution models for interactive entertainment, and There.com and Trilogy are building the infrastructure to support these new efforts."
