Hollywood - Blu-ray movies outsold titles on the rival HD DVD format by 2-to-1 in the U.S. during the first half of 2007, according to a report from Home Media Research, a division of Home Media Magazine.
Sales of films on Sony's Blu-ray Disc format totaled 1.6 million units through July 1, compared with sales of 795,000 HD DVD movies.
To date, the firm estimated the next-generation formats have sold a combined 3.7 million titles, including 2.2 million Blu-ray and 1.5 million HD DVD units.
