New York - Hearst-Argyle Television, which owns 26 U.S. TV stations, including ABC, CBS and NBC affiliates, on Thursday announced the launch of High School Playbook, a new service that will offer coverage of high school sports via TV, Web and mobile platforms.

High School Playbook will provide school information, game schedules, statistics, weather reports and social networking features, in addition to video coverage of high school sports from TV stations, user-submitted videos, and a network of student journalists equipped with Canon HV20 high-definition cameras.

"High School Playbook will become the local-community hub for 10 men's and women's sports and promises to be a compelling internet brand that will resonate with athletes and fans," said Terry Mackin, Hearst-Argyle Television executive vice president in charge of digital media.

"Not only will it deliver stunning video and informative stats; it will also showcase the spirited sense of community surrounding high school sports. And while high school sports are inherently local, we have built this to have national scale."

Hearst-Argyle will initially launch the service in seven of its TV markets, including Baltimore, Sacramento, Orlando and Greensboro/Winston-Salem, N.C.
