Cavalier TV Acquires IPTV Content Protection Firm SecureMedia

Natick, Mass. - SecureMedia, a provider of copy-protection software for delivery of video-on-demand, IPTV, music and other content over broadband networks, announced on Friday its acquisition by Cavalier Telephone and TV, a provider of bundled voice, data and digital TV services.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1996, Boston-based SecureMedia's copy-protection technologies have been deployed on set-tops from customers including Motorola, Pace Micro, Amino and Wegener.

The company said the deal will allow it to pursue new business opportunities and market segments.

Virginia-based Cavalier currently serves 650,000 business and residential customers in 16 states.
