Wal-Mart Launches DRM-Free MP3 Song Download Store

Brisbane, Calif. - Retail giant Wal-Mart on Tuesday announced the launch of DRM-free MP3 song and album downloads from its online store, initially featuring hundreds of thousands of tracks from Universal Music and EMI Music.

The 256 kpbs MP3 tracks will sell for 94 cents each and $9.22 per album; WalMart.com will also continue to offer WMA-format downloads for 88 cents per track.

Wal-Mart will also offer some discounts on certain MP3 albums.

Several records from artists including Norah Jones, Keith Urban and Daddy Yankee will sell for $7.88 per album for a limited time; others from artists including Bon Jovi and 50 Cent will be offered for $5.88 per album.
