New Jersey Teen Trades Hacked iPhone for New Car

San Francisco - The New Jersey teen who found a way to crack Apple's iPhone so it will work on networks other than AT&T's has traded his modified iPhone, for a new car and three new iPhones, from a Kentucky-based mobile phone repair firm, the Associated Press reported.

Seventeen-year-old George Hotz posted the news on the same blog where he posted the iPhone hack, which he worked on for about 500 hours with a team of three collaborators.

Hotz told AP he will keep the Nissan 350Z, and give the three new iPhones to his hacking partners.

Terry Daidone, co-founder of CertiCell, which acquired Hotz's hacked iPhone, told AP the company "does not have any plans on the table right now to commercialize Mr. Hotz' discovery."
