Authored by Mark Hefflinger on August 30, 2007 - 10:52am.

Seattle - Microsoft has settled a long-running patent dispute with Eolas Technologies, a University of California spin-off that develops browser technology and was previously awarded a judgment of over $500 million for patent infringement, the Seattle P-I reported.

While financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed, Eolas COO Mark Swords wrote in a letter to shareholders that the company "anticipates paying a dividend to shareholders of between $60 and $72 per share."

The companies had previously agreed to delay their patent litigation to enter settlement negotiations.
