MTV Confirms Britney Spears VMA Performance

This is what happens when Britney performs at the VMAs

Here’s a quick reason to watch MTV’s Video Music Awards on September 9: Britney Spears will perform the new single Gimme More, and her mere presence virtually guarantees something absurd is going to happen. Speculation about the song’s legitimacy came into question when it was “leaked” last week after playing on Z100 in New York. But everyone knew better. “It’s Britney, bitch,” she told us. Yes it is.

The new song and VMA appearance are both part of the Britney Comeback plan and you have to admit you’re glad she’s putting her days of crotchal exposure, head-shaving and umbrella-wielding madness behind her. You’re not? Neither am I.

But fear not: It’s still Britney, bitch. Her craziness is going nowhere and we can only be thankful she hasn’t disappeared into oblivion. Now she’s coming back to center stage, opening the VMA’s and assuring MTV’s producers that the show will be relevant once again. With eager eyes we’ll be watching her every step.

"I wanted to start the show in a very big and dramatic way, and she's the one to do that," VMA executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic said. "She'll captivate everyone, and set the tone for rest of the night."

Question: If you're Jesse Ignjatovic, how are you really feeling right now? Sure, headlines are being made today, and you're locking in a bunch of viewers who would otherwise never watch, but you also have to feel a little...uneasy...shall we say? This girl has no handlers right now. It's like a 17-year-old alcoholic from Greenwich, Connecticut finding out on a Friday afternoon that her parents are leaving the mansion to her for the weekend. There's a 100% chance something terrible is going to happen.

So if you're Jesse Ignjatovic, you've made the smart play and put her on the show. But now she'll be running the mansion for the show's opening and...hmmm...do you really think she's just going to "be dancing, performing, doing her thing" as you say?

Jesse must be drinking himself to sleep this week.

As for her new album, Jive Records confirmed its release last week: “The track that leaked is off of Britney Spears's forthcoming album. The song is ‘Gimme More,’ produced by Danja, (and is) written by Nathaniel ‘Danjahands’ Hills, James Washington, Keri Hilson, Marcella Araica.” You can listen to the song here. The album is supposed to come out November 13.

That leaves lots of promotional time for Britney to help all of us feel safe knowing there’s at least one person in the world far crazier than we’ll ever be. If you can’t say the same, however, we only ask that you begin a video blog and begin documenting your life in detail.

I am a huge fan of Britney and was very glad that she had planned a comeback. However, the preformance was horrific. I have never noticed her lip singing as much I as I did in that preformance. She looked very confused and disorientated. MTV is probably kicking themselves in the ass for having her there, let alone opening the show with such poor standards. That was a huge let down for such a huge fan.

Britney is so much better, than her resent VMA proformance. She looked drunk and lazy. Like "well I am already famous so I will just walk around and maybe do a few dance moves, lip sync and forget the words to my own song." Not impressed.

Well I was so anxious to see Britney's performance. I agree though, she looked Dazed and Confused... She defintally didn't own the stage...What was wrong with her? I feel bad for her

I'm a huge Britney fan. I don't really pay attention to all the stuff they put in the news about her personal life. I just love her music and the way she performs. Last night @ the VMAs I was not impressed. I don't know if I was expecting to much, it was so bad I couldn't even finish watching it:(

Ok, who ever says that she needs to lose alot of weight needs to F off... dude that girl has had two children and she looks alot better than most fat lazy ass 16 year olds..As for her performance she seemed as though her heart just wasnt in it like it use to be. It seems as though she was stuck in a paradoxal situation: she wanted to, or thought she wanted to come back to the business and half way there, she realized that maybe she just didnt really want to be part of it anymore and lost all passion she had for the dominion of the stage she had in her pre-maternial years. keep in mind this woman has been through alot of smack the last few years and everyone should just leave this woman alone. People critize her for being a has been and now critize horribly her attempts to come back.

I freakin agree, it might not have been her best show, but WHAT THE!?!?! she looked fatastic in my eyes, better than she ever has before. With all this vma news i was reading brit news today and found that her home was for sale, anyone else seen this thing? I think everybody should leave her alone, because she has accomplished more at a young age then most people will in their whole lifetime...And people wonder why she's having break downs...Its because everybody is so hard on her, watching her every move, constantly judging and critizing her...Yeah, her performance wasnt the greatest, but what do you expect.The girl has been through so much especially with everybody being in her damn business and not letting her live her life...And as far as her being fat-what the F are you people talking about...The girl has had 2 kids and I think she looks great!!

Britney lacked professionalism. She looked inexperienced, out of shape, messy hair, sloppy outfit, and she was missing an acrylic nail on her right hand. It's not time for her to make a come back. She needs to fix herself before starting her career again. I was terribly disappointed.

The VMA's made it clearly obviously that she needs to move on and find a new career. Not many people even take her seriously anymore. she could of had a chance for a come back if she wouldnt have screwed up the VMS's but now she has NO chance in hell. she needs to stop partying and get serious with her life and what kind of role model she wants to be for her kids.

The fact remains that this is what happens when children are trained to earn money and grow up in such a superficial and potentially corrupt industry. She has been performing since she was a young girl. How abnormal a life is that? She has broken away from her parents and advisors and seems very confused about who she is and what she wants. Who wouldn't be. I'm not particularly a fan or someone who wishes that she fail. I just feel sorry for her because most of us, if put in her position with her lifelong influences, would have the same problem keeping our lives together with all of the pressure, money and excess. With all due respect to her, she is nothing but a trained monkey who has been let off her leash. And for that she can thank her parents and those who have been getting fat from her success. I simply wish her luck as a fellow human being and someone who truly needs the support and love from people who stand to gain nothing from her before she does something truly damaging or irreversible. Good luck with that.
