iBiquity Enables "iTunes Tagging" of FM Songs on HD RadiosAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on September 7, 2007 - 12:11pm.
Columbia, Md. - iBiquity Digital, developer of HD Radio technology that lets broadcasters transmit a digital signal alongside their analog signals, this week announced a new feature for HD Radio receivers, iTunes Tagging, that lets listeners tag songs they hear on FM radio for later purchase from the iTunes Store. The company said that several major broadcasters, including Clear Channel, will implement iTunes Tagging initially across hundreds of stations. The first devices to support the feature, the Polk I-Sonic Entertainment System 2 and JBL iHD, are slated to ship in the fall. iBiquity said additional car and home receivers that support tagging will follow in early 2008.
