Cupertino, Calif. - Seventy-four days after its introduction, Apple announced on Monday that it has sold its one millionth iPhone.

The company said last week that it was on track to sell one million of the devices by the end of this month, when it announced a $200 price cut for the 8GB version of the device just two months after its release.

Following an e-mail outcry from early iPhone adopters, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in an open letter on the company's website that Apple will offer early purchasers a $100 store credit.

"One million iPhones in 74 days -- it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod," said Jobs. "We can't wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season."
