Raleigh, N.C. - ICO Global Communications, a Virginia-based provider of satellite communications services, said on Monday that it will team with Kirkland, Wash.-based broadband firm Clearwire to launch one of the industry's first mobile video trials. The joint trial is expected to begin early next year in Raleigh, N.C., with ICO also planning a similar trial in Las Vegas. Clearwire was founded in 2003 by Craig McCaw, the wireless communications pioneer behind such companies as Nextel and XO Communications. The company also is working with Sprint Nextel to build a nationwide WiMax network.
