Mobile Phone Service for Kids Kajeet Lands $36.8 Million

Bethesda, Md. - Kajeet, the provider of a pay-as-you-go mobile network for kids and their parents, has raised $36.8 million in its second round of financing, led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund, VentureWire reported.

Founded in 2003, Bethesda, Md.-based Kajeet offers an entertainment-focused mobile service tailored for younger kids, that also allows parents to control such features as the times their kids are allowed to use the phones, contact lists, and spending on games and other features.

The company has a deal to offer mobile content from kid-focused cable TV network Nickelodeon. Its service is available from retailers including Best Buy, Limited Too and Long's Drugs.
