San Diego - Active Network, a provider of online communities centered on healthy lifestyles, as well as technology and marketing services to community organizations, has raised $65.6 million in its fifth round of venture capital financing, VentureWire reported.

Founded in 1998, the San Diego-based company's websites include Active.com and Eteamz.com, which foster online community around events like running and cycling races, and allow amateur sports teams to set up websites for their teams and leagues.

The company said Active.com now claims over 12 million registered members, and that the number of community organizations using its operations technology now number more than 4,000.
