User-Generated Product Reviews Firm Bazaarvoice Lands $8.8 Million

Austin, Texas - Bazaarvoice, a provider of social commerce applications, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $8.8 million in its second round of funding, led by Battery Ventures.

Austin Ventures, and previous investors First Round Capital; Constantin Partners co-founder Julie Constantin; Performics founder Jamie Crouthamel; and BizRate co-founder David Reibstein also participated in the round.

Since launching in January 2006, Austin-based Bazaarvoice had signed over 120 customers to its service that provides user-generated product reviews, photos and videos, including Dell, Macy's, Sears, QVC and Overstock.com.

The company said it served over 500 million customer ratings and reviews for its clients in July.

"Bazaarvoice will use this new capital from our first-tier VC partners to accelerate growth worldwide, introduce new and innovative products and services, and better serve our customers," said Bazaarvoice founder and CEO Brett Hurt.
