Atlanta - The Weather Channel Interactive on Tuesday announced its acquisition of Weather Bonk, a site that features user-generated and partner content on current weather conditions and forecasts.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The purchase included sites like Ski Bonk and Golf Bonk, which feature weather information mashups overlaid on Google maps.

The acquisition is the first by The Weather Channel Interactive, part of its efforts to extend its core assets through new Web and mobile properties.

The company said future targets may include travel, vacations, health, green living, recreation, sports, traffic and other local content sites.
