Led Zeppelin is rumored to be reuniting for a November concert in LondonThough nothing official had been announced, Led Zeppelin front man Robert Plant answered a fan’s question last week about the possibility of a reunion performance by saying, “How did you know about that?” Now the rumors are confirmed, and the band will play a November 26 concert in London at the O2 Arena, to be organized and promoted by Harvey Goldsmith, one of the music industry’s most formidable concert promoters.

The show will be played by Led Zeppelin’s three surviving members: Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones, who toured a bit this summer and played at the Manchester, Tennessee festival Bonnaroo.  Led Zeppelin hasn’t played a live show together in 12 years.

Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 with the death of drummer John Bonham, and his son Jason is expected to take his place at the upcoming show.

The November concert would coincide with the release of a new “Best of Led Zeppelin” album, also to be released that month, and speculation has arisen that, if successful, the show could spawn a tour.

The group has sold approximately 200 million albums worldwide, about half of which were sold in the US.  Proceeds from the show, it is said, will go to a charity honoring Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records who died after a fall on October 29, 2006 at a Rolling Stones performance honoring Bill Clinton’s 60th birthday.  He was 83.

"This performance stands alone as a tribute to the work and the life of our long-standing friend," Plant said.
