Sunnyvale, Calif. - Online music service Mercora, which lets users create their own Internet radio stations, said on Wednesday that it has launched a new service and changed its corporate name to Social.FM. The company said that it has launched free beta versions of its products, including Social.FM Web, a social network revolving around music; Social.FM Desktop, a social media application that allows users to broadcast their favorite artists and playlists; and Social.FM Network, a distributed content delivery network that encodes and streams media in multiple formats to fixed and wireless networks. "[The name] Social.FM better reflects the vision, product and market direction of the company," said Srivats Sampath, the company's president and CEO.
