London - Major label EMI has launched Scoutr, a new Web-based service where unsigned bands can upload demos and press materials in the hopes that they are heard and liked by A&R representatives at the company, and eventually land a record deal. The site allows anyone to listen to and rate uploaded tracks, with the highest-rated tracks receiving attention from label representatives. The label said every two weeks it will highlight the top-rated track on the Scoutr homepage, and potentially release them as one-off singles.
