VP of Content/New Media - Washington, DC area

The Sales Zone, a premier search firm specializing in sales, marketing, and business development has been asked to search for a vice president of content/new media for a highly regarded, national organization based in Alexandria, VA (Old Town area).
We are seeking professionals with experience in the new media arena. Specifically, our client is looking for someone who can create, aggregate, disseminate, and monetize content over new media channels. Our client publishes white papers, produces seminars, publishes a magazine, and creates other types of content--some of it in a new media environment, but much of it in a traditional or print environment. We are lookig for someone who can lead a team toward migrating all content to new media outlets.
Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the vice president of marketing, setting the content strategy for the organization.
- Performing leadership and management duties including managing a group of three-to-five director and manager level employees, plus their direct reports. Hiring, managing and motivating employees including writing employee reviews, goal setting, etc.
- Budgeting and forecasting.
- Managing outside vendor relationships.

Ideal candidates will possess three or more of the following key skills:
- New Media Creative and Brand Development: Being knowledgeable in the areas of interface design and analysis on broadband and interactive TV devices, Internet, etc. Experience managing interactive media product development lifecycle including presentation, functional and infrastructure components is a plus.
- Staffing and Management: Experience building editorial, design and technical teams, complemented by the ability to inherit teams and take them to peak performance levels. Understanding of iTV and Internet partners.
- Business Planning: Experienced in marketing and traffic/ratings projections, cost analysis, ROI.
- Content Experience: Understanding the creation, aggregation, dissemination and monetization of new content channels is a must.
- Previous experience at Discovery Communications, National Geographic, Gartner Group, IDG, AOL, and other similar organizations is very helpful, but not required.
- Knowledge of the traditional printing and publishing world.
- Previous experience inheriting an existing team.
- Demonstrated ability to start something new, take a fresh approach and execute on goals and objectives.
