Cupertino, Calif. - Apple on Friday posted details on how early iPhone purchasers can claim the $100 credit the company is offering to defray criticism for slashing the price of the device by $200 after just two months on sale.

Anyone who purchased either an 8GB or 4GB iPhone before Aug. 22 can visit the company's website and fill out a form to electronically receive a $100 credit for either the company's retail or online stores.

The credit is not good at the iTunes Store or for Apple gift cards, and requests must be submitted by Nov. 30, 2007.

Those who purchased iPhones after Aug. 22 but before Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the price cut on Sept. 5 are eligible for refunds, and requests must be submitted by Sept. 19.

Sucks to be you if you were

Sucks to be you if you were gonna get some music with that credit. What can you actually buy with $100 in Apple? Nothing good. Also, what's with the deadline? They should be making sure EVERYONE that has purchased an iPhone gets that rebate. Don't tell me they don't have all of their flipping information. It's a PHONE. You have to sign up with Cinular. They KNOW EXACTLY who bought these phones, and when. These maniacs track where your mouse moves over their flipping emails.
