SpiralFrog Launches Free Ad-Supported Music Service

New York - SpiralFrog on Monday announced the launch of its ad-supported service that offers free song and music video downloads.

The service launches with a catalog of around 800,000 songs, from major label Universal Music Group, and independents licensed through services including IODA and INgrooves.

The company missed its initial launch target last December, and soon after saw the departure of much of its management team, including CEO Robin Kent.

SpiralFrog users must listen to a 90-second commercial on the songs they download, which are delivered in the WMA format -- meaning they are not compatible with the iPod.

Registered users must also renew their free subscription every 30 days to keep downloading music, and every 60 days to keep listening to files they have downloaded.
