CBS Chief Moonves: "We Like Our Relationship With iTunes"

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on September 19, 2007 - 8:30am.

New York - Unlike NBC, whose TV shows will disappear from Apple's iTunes Store after the companies failed to reach an agreement on pricing and other issue, the CEO of CBS said on Tuesday his company will not enter into the dispute, Reuters reported.

"We're sort of staying out of the battle," CBS chief Les Moonves told a Merrill Lynch investor conference.

"We like our relationship with iTunes. We look at iTunes as much as a promotional vehicle for our shows as a financial vehicle."

Moonves said CBS also declined an invitation to become a partner in Hulu, the Web video joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp.

"I love [News Corp. president and Fox Group CEO] Peter Chernin and [NBC Universal president and CEO] Jeff Zucker," said Moonves. "They're both very smart, but I don't like to consult with them on what to do with my programming."
