Sony Acquires Game Developers Evolution Studios, Bigbig Studios

Tokyo - Sony Computer Entertainment announced on Thursday that it has acquired U.K.-based video game developer Evolution Studios and its subsidiary, Bigbig Studios.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1999, Evolution developed the million-selling PlayStation 3 title "MotorStorm," and also created the "World Rally Championship" franchise for PlayStation 2.

Bigbig was founded in 2001 and has created titles including "Pursuit Force" for the Sony PSP.

SCE Worldwide Studios said it now employs over 2,500 people across 15 game studios in Japan, the U.S., the U.K. and The Netherlands.
