Report: Just 5% of Europeans Interested in Mobile TV

Helsinki - Only 5% of Europeans expressed interest in watching TV or video on their cell phones in the next year, Reuters reported, citing a new study from market research firm Gartner.

The same study found 20% of Asians were interested in watching TV on their mobile phones.

"I think the main reason is the compromise you are making on the device you need to carry to watch TV -- either too big if you want a nice experience or too small and you do not have a good experience," Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi told Reuters.

Commercial mobile TV networks have already been launched in three European countries, as well as in India and Vietnam; ventures in Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia plan launches later this year.
