Atlantic City, N.J. - Filters already exist to screen minors and compulsive gamblers from online casinos, so the U.S. ban on Internet gambling stifles business and is unconstitutional, a gaming industry trade group that it suing to have the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act overturned argued in federal court on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.

The Internet Media Entertainment & Gaming Association asked U.S. District Court Judge Mary L. Cooper wants the law declared unconstitutional, a step on the road toward their desired goal of making it legal for U.S. citizens to gamble online.

The U.S. Justice Department asked Judge Cooper to dismiss the lawsuit, maintaining that online gambling is illegal in the U.S.

After hearing arguments on Wednesday, Judge Cooper said she expects to rule within 30 days.
