New Britney Spears Single 'Gimme More' Third on iTunes Chart

Britney Spears' VMA performance has not been as disastrous for her career as widely speculatedYou had to love the “Britney’s Career is Finished” headlines following the “disastrous” MTV Video Music Awards performance.  The mere fact so many millions declared the end of her career only served as notice that public interest in the pop star has never been higher.  How quickly we forget: Stardom today has little to do with the kind of news you make; it's far more important to make any news at all, good or bad.  And who in pop culture has made more news in recent weeks?  It is, no doubt, the reason Spears’ new single Gimme More, which she sang with such heartfelt enthusiasm at the VMAs (relive it here), has reached the third spot on the iTunes charts.

Gimme More
is also iTunes’ #1 ringtone, and the single has reached the 18th spot on “Radio & Records Top 40 National Airplay Chart.”

We can stop analyzing her career at this point.  She's clearly well beyond the fragility of many of her peers, whose careers seem to teeter on the edge of extinction on a daily basis.

As said on DMW before, you will know her career is finished when no one is talking about her.  Looks like that time hasn’t come yet.

I Knew It!

I knew it! Britney has made a comeback! hen something is good, its' good! Its now Sept. 27, 9:08pmand Gimme also is the #1 song, check it out! When I listen to music, I listen for the music, not the person. Do I like the way Britney is acting no way, but I love her music. The song makes me wanna dance all night!

Britney Spears

And the song just reached number 1 on iTunes. The day after it was released. That just goes to show the power of Britney. I guess people sometimes forget that she is a music powerhouse, and now that she is on top of the charts everyone is just amazed. Britney Spears has managed to have an instant hit at the same time her personal life is going downhill. And I admire her for that. Who can do that? Just Britney, bitch.

Strong Britney

Its now on No.1 Guys..... love u brit.

I also figured she wasn't

I also figured she wasn't finished. People were showing too much interest in her. The way I see it, everyone star has fans and non-fans (of course!). It's the non-fans that usually speak up to complain. The more popular the artist, the more the non-fans complain and make a big deal, or issue. Why? They are hoping they'll go away etc. I read things I dislike as well, but only part is true anyway. I also listen to music for the music. I put in a CD or listen to songs I like. I'm very fair about it. If it sounds good, I enjoy it and that's all there is to it. Gimme More is a great "comeback", but some people don't want to admit it is, so they say, "flop!". I don't think so. She has another song, "Heaven On Earth" that sounds like a hit to me too.

#1, not #3

Hi Scott, Can you change the title so it says "New Britney Spears Single 'Gimme More' #1 on iTunes Chart" ??? It's like no one wants to admit it when I search Google news, lol. It's #1 on iTunes, so might as well say it :-). Thanks for the article though.
