Los Angeles - The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) this week filed lawsuits seeking to have two websites it claims are distributing pirated films shut down on claims of copyright infringement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The sites -- CinemaTube.net and SSUpload.com -- were offering recently released films such as "The Brave One" and "Good Luck Chuck."

A domain search found CinemaTube.net, which averages 24,000 unique daily visitors, has servers located in Malaysia, while SSUpload.com, which attracts 55,000 daily users, has servers in Arizona.

"We are putting illegal Web operators on notice that they are not above the law and will face serious consequences for their activities," said John Malcolm, executive vice president and director of worldwide anti-piracy operations at the MPAA.

Linking

All those sites were doing is linking to the movies. What is funny is your linking to the sites that link to illegal movies. So, the MPAA filing this suit is saying that linking is illegal and that this website is illegall too and could be suit for linking to a site. Wierd? Is the MPAA trying to sue and make it a law that we can not link to other sites anymore?

Aiding and abetting

No, just illegal ones. Both cinematube.net & Showstash.com were ordered to pay $1.375 million & $2.7 million by Los Angeles courts. Can you say conspiracy, aiding and abetting in the downloading of illegal movies?
