Posh Spice, Elton John & Others want to Help Britney SpearsAuthored by Scott Goldberg on September 28, 2007 - 7:12am.
How do you stay relevant in Hollywood on September 28, 2007? By offering an invitation to Britney Spears for the pop star to shack up at your joint. Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham and her husband, soccer star David, along with Elton John and even former N’Sync boy-bander Joey Fatone have offered safe havens to Spears. Posh’s sudden fondness for Britney arrives on the heels of an apparent altercation at the Los Angeles Chateau Marmont’s restaurant, in which Spears “snubbed” Posh – whatever that means – and now Vic Beckham says the girl just needs “a real friend.” When you think of real friends, you think of Posh Spice, don’t you?Meanwhile Britney’s new song Gimme More has jumped to the top spot on the iTunes charts, and is the #1 selling ringtone as well. Elton John also can’t wait to lend a hand. He wants to take Spears to “a secret hideaway” to escape the media glare, something supposedly very difficult to do. Here’s a way for Britney to that on her own: Stop hanging out in Hollywood. But John is also right: He could teach a class on how to remove oneself from the media spotlight. And Joey Fatone feels even sorrier for Spears than he does for himself: "Poor girl,” he said, “she needs some help. Come over to my house and my wife will whip her into shape. Come back to Orlando and take a break for awhile, from LA and stuff." Yep, a stay at the Fatone's is just the ticket: Joey begging for a verse in a Britney song while wifey makes one fat joke after the next. A trip to Orlando is just what Spears needs. Imdb.com reports that Fatone thinks the VMA performance was not a smart career move. I’d have to say the folks at Jive Records, watching the cash roll in for Gimme More and the certain success her November 13th album will have, might disagree with that notion. |
